Victory Speech

They said our sights were set too high.

They said this country was too divided, too disillusioned to ever come together around a common purpose. But, on this March night, at this defining moment in history, you have done what the cynics said we couldn't do.

You came together to say that we are one Blog, and the time for simple, yet sophisticated deck flooring is now.

Thank You, Thank You. We stand together to resist the needs for everything shabby chic, and so this world will have solid footing for our children and their children.

Hopefully the deck project administration will accept the wishes of the people, and this project will one day be completed.

Since the deck is done, the next poll might be for what project is next. The deck throwdown can now be planned. Everyone is invited except for Dad. And Drew is on serious probation for recommending "astroturf" flooring. I am considering the death penalty.

Disappointment

Wow, I'm surprised at all of our bloggies. It looks like Alex wins again. Don't y'all know that Alex always wins at everything and you should have voted for my painted idea to take him down a notch?

I would like to defend my painted floor position and try to win some more votes. I could just disregard everyone's opinions and do whatever I want, but I'm a people pleaser and I like harmony and agreement. Sometimes I just like quirky things and I think it works (I think you have all seen my chicken chair.) Some of you were concerned about the floor becoming faded, scratched and worn out. I personally love this look and it would make me happy for it to become all of the above. Justin felt that the painted floor would not go with the overall "rustic" look of the deck, but I think with the distressed finish it will end up having that it will compliment the rest of the natural wood and just look a little more prettyfied.

In the end, I at least got my x's in the framing for the screens so I am content even if I don't paint the floor. We all know that I have way more style than Alex, though, so you should definitely vote for my idea. I think you'll all be surprised at how rockin' my painted floor is going to look.
